Social media may be perceived as any forms of electronic communication through which users create online communities to share information, ideas, personal messages, and other content (as videos). Although the first known use of the term was in 2004, social media use has skyrocketed in the past several years. This continuous social media usage might stem from increased mobile usage of social networking sites. As smartphones and tablets increase in popularity, many social media users rely on their mobile apps to access their favorite sites. Although social media is accessible to nearly anyone, children and young adults are the most active users hence there is a massive impact of social media on their life styles. Lifestyle denotes how people eat, dress, and communicate it is a way of living referring to a combination of determining intangible or tangible factors. The term denotes the interests, opinions, behaviours, and behavioural orientations of an individual, group, or culture. Research shows the amount of time young people spend in sedentary behaviors has increased in recent years, and while this includes TV- internet time, a dramatic shift has been noticed from real social interaction to virtual interaction, increase in other types of screen time, as computers and video games, their socialization is influenced by the new media that appears to be driving the trend. The present paper review examines impact of social media on life style trends in current perspectives among adolescents and youth. life style changes based on gender, age, socio-economic area of residence, prevalence of sedentary behaviors, impact on social relationships and so on. There is an urgent need for awareness end re-education vulnerable lot of people about life style disorders which is easily preventable. Simply modifying one’s lifestyle to eliminate and reduce risks can make a huge difference.
